About Auditory Reaction

Did you know your brain processes sound faster than visual light? The auditory pathway is shorter, often resulting in reaction times 20-40ms faster than visual tests.

This premium tool is specifically designed to isolate your audio reflexes by preventing any visual flashes or cues right when the sound plays. You must rely solely on what you hear.

How to Use This Test

  1. Configure your settings: choose a sequence length, volume, and whether to use a mouse or custom key (gamers often prefer keyboard).
  2. Select your preferred audio cue (Beep, Snap, Ping, or Chime).
  3. Click the pad to enter the "Listening" state.
  4. React immediately when you hear the sound. (The screen will not change color until after you click!)
  5. Finish your sequence to see your detailed ranking and save it to your history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is audio reaction faster than visual?

Yes. An auditory stimulus takes ~8-10ms to reach the brain, while visual takes ~20-40ms. The average audio reaction time is around 170ms, whereas visual is usually around 250ms.

Does surround sound help?

It helps with locating the sound (spatial awareness), but won't necessarily make your raw reaction speed faster.

Why did my screen not change color when the sound played?

This is intentional! Many other audio tests flash a color at the same time the sound plays, meaning you are actually reacting to the color change, not the sound. We keep the screen visually static to guarantee we are measuring your true auditory reflex.
